Description

Ford : Bronco Baja 1971 Ford Bronco Baja Stroppe, AT, PS, all Baja goodies

Well, here’s a great investment for an Early Bronco lover. This is a 1971 Baja Edition Ford Bronco built by Bill Stroppe. I’ll describe the Bronco and how it is equipped and what it needs if a restoration is to be done. This Bronco runs, drives, and stops great. I’ve driven it over 1000 miles with zero problems. It has it’s original 302 2bbl, with AT and PS. I’ve been in a lot of Broncos over the years, and this is one of the best running ones I’ve seen, regardless of it heritage! It will cruise all day long on the interstate at 65-70mph. The only way you could get these options in ’71 is to order them from Stroppe, or order a Baja Bronco. It’s really a treat to look at the fab work done to the frame at Stroppe’s shop necessary to accomodate the power steering and then there’s the rare STROPPE intermediate adapter for the C4. It was ordered with 4.11 gears, which definately gives it some pep around town. This Bronco ordered from LJ Snow Ford in Colton, CA. I have the original owners manual and the original maintenance folio from the dealer! I also have a deluxe Marti Report authenticating this Bronco. It is also listed in the Baja Bronco Registry. This is obviously the real deal. It has all the Stroppe standard issue items including dual shock mounts, transmission cooler and guard, padded steering wheel (in very nice shape), trailer hitch, bumper braces, rear flares (believed to be original from ’71) and roll bar. In ’71 they didn’t put on cactus pushers yet! Also, the fog light mounts on the front bumper are believed to be Stroppe installed. The dash pad is nice, the top doesn’t look like it’s ever been removed, the headliner, wiper motor cover, and visors are intact. It looks like she’s been painted once a long time ago. The 4WD, wipers, and heater work. The radio does not work I have receipts from 2010 totaling over $2500 for a tune up, new brakes and other items. All paperwork is included in the auction. The 5 BFG 31×10.50×15 Mud T/A’s are basically new with no dry rot on 5) correct steel Stroppe wheels, and there are 8 Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks and 2″ front coils. All the guages, lights, and old school tach work, the dash pad is nice and uncracked. There are some Thrush dual exhaust which are pretty loud, but sound great nevertheless. The drivers door closes good, the passenger door sags. Sheet metal needed for a restoration include both kick panels, passenger post, maybe drivers post, strikers are good, tailgate rusted on bottom, grill on left corner dented, front bumper bent, left front quarter dented, front floors rusted in seams, rear taillight corners, and tops of inner rear wheel wells. The rear end whines a little, but has always been full of gear oil. Not that big a deal but worth disclosing. The rear bed is intact with minor rust on right rear corner. I have a 12 minute video on you tube of the Bronco. I put newer front seats with no rips in them since the video was taken. I am a Bronco collector, and I’m selling this to restore a 1968 U13 Roadster. I have a perfect tailgate, Nice Ranger grill complete in Poppy Red, and a new in the box fender and bumper available to the buyer for $500.00 extra if interested. Three sets of keys (9keys) are included. Feel free to ask questions, all questions will be answered. Ask questions before you bid please. If you have zero feedback, contact me before you bid or your bid will be retracted, no acceptions. Bronco is sold with clear title (in hand), as is with no warranty. A $500.00 non refundable deposit is required at the end of the auction. Fly in and drive home, or I have a transport company who can ship it for an average of .55/mile. Thanks!
